Shawn Ellsworth, owner and president of Powderworth Inc., didn’t have experience running a business when he started his powder-coating company.

But he had a desire to succeed, a strong work ethic, and learned through experience. Earlier this year, his company’s growth brought new kinds of obstacles, so he did what successful leaders do and sought advice and instruction. He asked around, and the Cortland Area Chamber of Commerce connected him to TDO. That’s the non-profit in Liverpool that helps CNY entrepreneurs in manufacturing and high tech to become more efficient and competitive.
